-What is a Birth Story?-
A Birth Story is a documentary style session that captures the unique story of your labor & your baby's birth.
-How will you make sure you don't miss my birth?-
I will be on call for you 24/7 starting at 38 weeks gestation through delivery. What that means is when its time, its time, & I will be there whether it is 2am on a Tuesday or 7pm on a Saturday. I make sure I have measures in place so that I am able to be there & not miss a moment! In the event you go into labor earlier than 38 weeks, I will do my absolute best to make it in time.
-When will you arrive?-
I will arrive once active labor has started & I generally stay til an hour or 2 after delivery to capture those first moments of your baby's life. If your care provider is doing cervical checks - I usually like to be with you from 6 centimeters onward. If you are not being checked, I come when you have an active pattern of contractions that you can't talk or walk through. We will be in communication once labor starts to ensure I arrive at the right time!
-What if you miss the birth?-
Of course every labor is different & some can move quite fast. If that happens & I am unable to make it before your baby is born, I will still take whatever images I can & you will also have the option of having a Fresh48 or an Essential Newborn session. In the unlikely event that I cannot attend your birth{i.e. sickness, emergency or otherwise}, I will send a photographer that I trust in my place to document your birth.
-What if I have to have a c-section?-
In the event that a c-section is needed, I will, if the hospital allows & if you wish, go into the OR with you & capture what I can of your baby's birth. It is very important that you get the ok from your hospital ahead of time for a photographer to be in the room in the event a c-sec is needed as no refunds will be given if I am not allowed in to take pictures & this is not known ahead of time.
-Will the images be graphic?-
I will capture as much or as little as you are comfortable with. We will discuss this beforehand. Also remember that these images are for you. I will not post anything online that you do not want posted. While I do appreciate it when my clients allow me to post these types of images, I will always respect your privacy.
-Can we get together & meet first?-
Yes! I am more than happy to meet up with you for coffee or tea! This is a great way to see if we are a good fit & to answer any other questions you may have! Please contact me & we can set it up!
